'Welcome to Machine' and 'Have A Cigar' became a bit dull to me after some time. This should be a contestant for best of all time as well but there are some things that with repeated listens I gathered about this one: -The first part of shine on and Wish You Were Here, are really masterful songs, nothing to take away from It.

On the opposite side, Wish You Were Here shows there softer side, the acoustic prowess of Gilmour, And the brilliant lyrics of Roger Waters.Īfter wish you were here, the album segues into Shine On You Crazy Diamond 'Bookending' the album. Have A Cigar and Wish You Were Here, I Think these are some of the first songs you can show someone if they are looking to get in to Floyd, It shows more of there heavy side, and how good of a soloist Gilmour, also shows some of Rogers more cynical lyrics. Its followed by Welcome To the Machine, a great song but a little dragged out in my opinion, then followed by two perfect Floyd songs. Shine On You Crazy Diamond sucks you right in and you can just sit back and listen. Wish You Were Here Is a really great album.
